A Clear Strategy
|
|
With long-term commitment to be the
leading, state-of-the-art polyester producer and to provide increased value for
its stockholders, Wellman continues to expand capacity and improve production
efficiencies. A new world-class manufacturing facility, on-line in
Mississippi in late 1998, serves both domestic and
export markets and further reinforces the company's competitive position as the
lowest-cost producer of high-quality polyester in the United States.
|
|
The European market continues to represent an excellent
opportunity for expansion in PET resins. As opportunities for its products
escalate worldwide, Wellman will evaluate capacity expansion beyond the
newest facilities in Emmen, the Netherlands and Verdun, France. Part of the
overall corporate strategy is to achieve a strategic balance between the
production of fibers and of resin, building integrated operations which fuel one
another and propel profitability.
|
|
Today, Wellman is a leading polyester
fiber and PET resin producer, making Wellman a key player in two of the largest consumer revolutions of the century: the
demand for premium-quality PET containers, and the preference for value-added,
ecologically-responsible products. The products that touch our lives. Again. And
again.
