| Wellman is the world's largest producer of polyester fiber made from recycled raw material. We purchase postconsumer #1 PET soft drink bottles, water bottles, fruit juice, sport drinks and other rigid PET containers as well as post industrial byproducts from polyester fiber, resin and film manufacturing processes. |
| Wellman also purchases post industrial nylon 6 and nylon 66 manufacturer waste. Wellman's recycled polyester staple is used in pillows, comforters, sleeping bags, scrub pads, furniture (seat backs), mattress pads, automotive trunk liners, grill covers and geotextiles for road bed and pond liners. Wellman has also developed a 100% postconsumer recycled content fiber (Fortrel® EcoSpun®) that is used in producing manufactured products like outerwear jackets, bags, T-shirts and much more. |
| Recycled nylon staple fiber is used in carpets and specialty products such as tennis balls. Wellman's nylon engineering resins are used to manufacture automotive, consumer products, industrial and electrical parts such as engine fans, headlight housings, aerosol valves and lawn and garden equipment. |
